The Rotten Tail Project

Documentation & Mapping of 'Urban Sculptures' in China: A project about the aesthetics of urban decay.

The Central subject is a Chinese urban phenomenon known as 'Rotten Tail Buildings': Abandoned unfinished skyscrapers which are scattered throughout Chinese megacity's, scarring the urban scenery.
Most 'white elephants' are abandoned due to capital- and credit issues and are considered bubble-bursts of the exploding bubble economy.

A case study on abandoned unfinished skyscrapers as-well as a proposal for urban regeneration.

— Nominated for the 2006 Art Olive-Young Talent Award (Jong Talent 2006) annual Dutch awards for the country’s most promising recent graduates from leading Dutch art academies.
— Nominated for Zuid-Hollandse VormgevingsPrijs 2006, awards for design graduates from the province of South Holland.
— Exhibited at the HongKong Business of Design Week 2008 (BoDW'08)

Part 2 (Exquisite Corpse) consists of a series regeneration and preservation- proposals. The abandoned concrete skeletons will be [partly] conserved or extended with a certain intervention by implementing applications of synthesising creativity.
